2.60 describe how the immune system responds to disease using white blood cells, illustrated by phagocytes ingesting pathogens and lymphocytes releasing antibodies specific to the pathogen

White blood cells are specialized cells which stop pathogens in your body.

Phagocytes: ingest and digest pathogens, they detect the presence of pathogens because of the chemicals
they give off. The cell engulfs the pathogens and destroys (breaks down) the cell with digestive enzymes

Lymphocytes: produce antibodies to deactivate pathogens. They release antibodies specific to the cell.
The antibodies produced can help break down the pathogen and clump the groups of pathogen together.
